The War on Drugs "Pain"

Lesson description: I love how Adam Granduciel puts things together--the lyrics, the tones, the layering, the depth, all of it done with great care and restraint. Everything is understated and breezy, which something we all can strive for in our playing & writing.

From a technical standpoint, I notice 3 positions of our trusty pentatonic scale that he flows between to create his interludes and solos. The first is the open position G major/E minor, which he often slides up into the 2nd position. For his solos, he moves up into the root 5 location of E pentatonic minor (one of my faves).
