Neil Young "Revolution Blues"

Lesson description: The purpose of this lesson was to explain how a 6th works. As with all things, ideas don't exist in a vacuum, so I decided that Neil Young's "Revolution Blues," from his 1974 On The Beach album would serve as an excellent backdrop to showcase the concept.

The most common harmony is the 3rd above. It creates a pleasing, warm and balanced tone with the main melody. A 6th is interesting as it is similarly warm and pleasing, but appears *below* the main melody note. That's the thing that throws us!

To illustrate this, I took the A minor scale, harmonized it in 6ths, and snuck in quick little fills utilizing those unpredictable and yet thoroughly musical pairs.
