Lesson description:This is a fun game I often play: I write down a simple chord progression, give it to my student, and say "Make this sound cool."
One of the many ways to accomplish this is to add tones from the key to chords as they pass by. Rather than thinking specifically about weirdo chord forms we may or may not have memorized, I recommend looking at *the scale* of the key, and see where it intersects with the groove.
For example, in the opening I'm playing a minor 12 bar blues in E, so I selectively bring in notes from E minor to the chords, if I'm staying on them a while.
