Test Your Triad Inversion Skills With This Sneaky Minor Run

Lesson description: A triad is the simplest possible version of a chord. They often confound us guitarists, because we are used to playing full chords, which contain several more notes than the pure Root, 3rd, and 5th. As a result, we mostly avoid using them, perhaps to our own detriment.

This warm-up serves to showcase how we can use triad inversions to move through chord progressions in a controlled, connected way. I've taken a I IV I V progression in B minor, and arpeggiated each, staying in position, and in the same string groupings, using knowledge of inversions to flow from one structure to the next.

Admittedly, this is no easy task! It requires understanding of all 3 inversions of each chord, on each particular set of strings. It's a serious fretboard mapping brain workout!
